2012 YCI EFCM Klingon Horse, 'KAHLESS!'
I had a vision...I'm a huge sci-fi fan, and love Star Trek in particular. I've always thought Klingons were cool: 'honor and glory unto death, Qa'Pla!' When I saw the wonderful CAPTAIN JACK (pirate horse) created by Jackie Turner for live auction at Equilocity 2012, my idea for KAHLESS was born.
KAHLESS started life as a Trotting Drafter. He is heavily customized, having: a custom whipping mane, forelock and tail; detailed feathers; turned and tucked head (ala 'Riptide'), and super pinned ears. His mouth is open in a warrior's cry: he's got a tongue, teeth and includes wolf teeth! And his palate is carved out and detailed! But it's what makes him Klingon that makes him so, so unique: he's got a Klingon sash upon which hangs his Klingon symbol, award pips, Klingon knife and removable bat'leth (Klingon battle sword.) He's decked out in hoof armor (spikes) and spine armor, just as his Klingon rider would wear. And of course, his most distinguishing features are his forehead ridges: he's Klingon after all!
Painted to a PERFECT deep and richly dappled bay, without one lick of white anywhere. Eyes a perfect glacially dusty green. Finished in layers and layers of gloss. I had a vision... and Peter Stone Horses not only delivered, but far surpassed it. Designed by Laurre Breman. Customized by Jackie Turner, painted by Carrie Keller, owned and photos by Laurre Breman. Produced by Peter Stone Horses.
