The Signature Series was a program where an artist would design a model, and then the Stone Co employees painted them. Each model had a stylized sticker of the artists' signature, and came with a Certificate of Ownership.
Spot This is an Appaloosa Palouse designed by Karen Gerhardt. There is a Non-Custom version and a Custom version. The Custom version has a tucked head and modified mane. I believe this run was all glossy. The total run of both custom and non-customs was 250. Per Karen "The base coat color was just a chestnut. Because it's an Appaloosa that would put all kinds of hair color variations in the coat."
Variations noted by collector Carolyn Burrell (see Barb's photos): This particular model has no signature sticker. The previous owner indicated that it never had one. Also, the head is tucked and turned slightly to the left. This looks very like the prototype. Other custom versions I've seen do not have the head tucked, and the mane is somewhat different than the mane on my model. The custom version was supposed to have a tucked head, but, apparently, some do not, having only the customized mane. It would be nice to know how many were made with tucked heads. Also, the spots on the rump on both sides are halo spots on this model, not just patches of dark color.
